ADHERE + DENY | SALOME

Wilde, in reworking the tale of Salome, borrowed from the Bible and the
myth of Cylebe, sets up a drama of opposites. Salome is a story of Christianity
versus neo-paganism, and a story of the God of Heaven versus the God of
Earth. In Adhere And Denys adaptation of the tale, the formation
of the myth rises out of the earth like an archeological discovery. Rather
than representing Salome as a museum piece on the Age of Decadence and
Beardsleys visual dominance, Adhere And Denys production exposes
the internal portraits of the players of the tale in an arena where all
myths are born. Walter Benjamin wrote that when we have mythology there
is no need for philosophy.
"Questing for cores is crucial to Guys aesthetic vision."
