ADHERE + DENY | REQUIEM

Requiem,
a fragmentary theatre piece, uses the poetry of the Russian poet Anna
Akhmatova as archeological shards to explore her interior biography; injured
but not broken by a series of traumatic loses by the turbulent era she
was destined to live. Through her poetry we witness how her soul perceived
and interpreted the world raging around her.
"Using Akhmatova as a subject matter for the third in a series of
fragmentary theatre pieces, Adhere And Deny artistic director (and Requiem
director) Grant Guy has chosen a subject whose life was full of tragedy,
but, unlike Kleist and Witkiewicz (around whom the first two pieces were
centred), did not end in suicide
The subject matter of Requiem,
while offering a bit more hope than the other pieces in the series, does
operate on the same fragmentary level, not examining the artist in a typical
biographical fashion."

dolls and other objects which evoke memories of her loses."
